IMPORTANT INSTALLATION INFORMATION

Symantec Antivirus Software

Symantec AntiVirus software is available for free to Wayne State University students, faculty, and staff. Campus workstations and servers are protected, as well, under this software contract.

Symantec AntiVirus and Endpoint Protection software have up-to-the-minute protection with virus definition update capability as well as a built in firewall (Symantec firewall is applies to Windows only). For more information about Symantec www.symantec.com.

Endpoint 11.0.5 for Windows 7, Vista, and XP (32 bit) (86.2 MB)

Endpoint 11.0.5 for Windows 7, Vista, and XP (64 bit) (89.5 MB)

Note: To verify whether your computer has a 32 bit or 64 bit Operating System left click Start, right click Computer, left click Properties, look at System Type.

The procedure to install Symantec AntiVirus is as follows:

  1. Uninstall any antivirus software currently on your computer.
  2. Download software (see above 32 & 64 bit versions above).
  3. During installation, if you receive a message "an unidentified program wants access to your computer", click "Allow".
  4. It is recommended that you perform a "typical" installation as this will automatically schedule LiveUpdates and enable the firewall.

Macintosh

Version 11 for Mac OS X 10.4.10 or later (including Snow Leopard 10.6 )—

The procedure is as follows:

  1. Uninstall any antivirus software currently on your computer.
  2. Download Symantec AntiVirus for Macintosh 11 (80.1 MB)
  3. Schedule routine antivirus updates with LiveUpdate.

Please Note: EndNote has released patch, X3.0.1. It is recommended that after downloading and installing EndNote X3, you apply this patch. This can be done from within EndNote. Choose "EndNote Program Updates" from the "Help" menu and follow the on-screen prompts.

Respondus LockDown Browser

Respondus LockDown Browser provides a custom browser interface for Internet Explorer (Windows) or Safari (Macintosh) software that is already installed on a computer, to secure the testing environment within Blackboard.
